Original quarto leather and maroon cloth. Gilt stamping to the front and spine, stamped in blind to the rear. Marbled endpapers. Illustrated with many full-page lithographs, two folding plates. Images include homes, farms, town scenes, mining, and many portraits. The portrait of J. G. Bisbee facing p. 192 is stained at the upper third. The staining does not affect the image.
